A traditional alpine pasture in the Triglav National Park area where our family runs a summer dairy. It’s the source of our seasonal alpine cheese.
Not physically during the tasting itself — instead, we bring it to you. At every tasting and workshop you experience summer life on Planina v Lazu through virtual reality glasses.
Yes. Our Bohinj Alpine Cheese is made traditionally on the mountain at Planina v Lazu during summer, from the milk of cows that graze freely on the alpine pastures. There is a lot of manual work involved and we dedicate ourselves to each loaf separately. Because of this, the alpine cheese is only available for a few months — at the end of summer and into autumn. Our other cheeses (the 1.5-, 2.5-, and 4-month classically matured cheeses, and our smoked cheese) are made at the farm in Studor v Bohinju and are available throughout the year.
Yes — you are welcome to visit us on Planina v Lazu during the summer. The starting point is Planina Blato, and from there it is about a 1-hour-30-minute walk to us on a marked path. Up at the pasture you can also try some of our products on the spot: sour milk, cottage cheese, and Bohinj cheese. Our cows roam freely across the mountain, and our piglets graze there too. We don’t run the structured group tastings up there — those happen at the farm in Studor, where we also bring the pasture to you via VR — but anyone who makes the hike is welcome to drop in.
We are a family-run, sustainable dairy farm committed to delivering 100% fresh, pure, and hormone-free dairy products.
